Pastry Chef Tip #13 ~ I need a Sharpie why???

To make note of (2) key pieces of information on each ingredient:

  1. Write the date you bought it.  (Then the date opened it if it's perishable.)
  2. Write the price on it.

Why?  It's nearly impossible to remember the age of everything in your pantry, fridge or freezer. (And the "sniff" test just doesn't work on everything.)  By writing the price, chances are you'll remember when you see the item "on sale" in your favorite store whether you should stock up or leave it on the shelf.

Decadently yours,

Chef Maria
