Pastry Chef Tip #16 ~ A little spray will go a long way...
Do you cringe when your recipe requires you to measure out a sticky, gooey, or otherwise messy ingredient? There's an easy "hack" that will make the experience painless and clean-up a breeze.
I used to despise measuring corn syrup for our Bourbon Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie, peanut butter, almond butter, marshmallow filling, honey, or anything naturally sticky. I'm not sure if it was harder to get the ingredient evenly IN the cup or get it OUT?!
~ Spray the measure cup (liquid measure or dry measure) with a little non-stick cooking spray. ~
I'm sure generously coating (not dripping) the inside of the cup with your favorite oil would work just fine too. I usually just grab the can of Pam and spray holding the cup down low in the sink. Sure, you could hold it up high and spray like you are spraying air freshener, but I'm pretty sure you're friends will laugh hysterically when you tell them you had a slip-n-fall on non-stick cooking spray.
