Whisper It Loud
Some storms are loud and thunderous.
Others creep in with a deadly silence.
Others creep in with a deadly silence.
Have you ever heard the expression, we are only as sick as our deepest secret?
This is not an invitation to spill everything.
But there is undeniable power in naming what is trying to hold us captive.
Some storms never make a sound until…
Anger: At the disease that altered your loved one and rewrote your future without permission.
Resentment: Carrying the weight alone while others continue living their lives seemingly untouched.
Bitterness: Watching the world move forward while your own life feels paused in a role you never auditioned for.
Grief: Mourning the version of them that no longer exists, even while they are still physically present.
Trauma: Being thrust into the caregiver role without warning and without a training manual.
Guilt: Feeling like you are never doing enough, even when you are giving everything you have.
Anticipatory anxiety: Waiting for the other shoe to drop, knowing most bad news begins with a phone call, flinching when it rings.
Loneliness: Living in quiet isolation where most days it is just you and your loved one, with little interaction and even less understanding.
If you saw yourself in this list, do not rush to minimize it or explain it away.
These emotions do not require justification.
Nor do they require your apology.
Nor do they require your apology.
Naming them does not make you dramatic.
It makes you honest.
It makes you authentic.
It makes you transparent.
It makes you honest.
It makes you authentic.
It makes you transparent.
And honesty is the first step toward healing.
More to come.
