We Took First Place Again. $25,000 This Time

We took first place. Again.

 

$25,000 at the Nisbet Venture Fund Pitch Competition.

 

Last time, first place at Techstars Startup Weekend.

 

Different competitions. Different judges. Same outcome.

 

And no, this isn’t a pivot. I’m a French-trained pastry chef and interactive keynote speaker.

 

This is how I think. How I lead. How I use dessert as a tool to bridge communication gaps and strategize in real time.

 

Seven minutes to present. Three minutes of questions. That’s where it gets real.

 

Our team?

 

Multigenerational. Cross-cultural. Five 18-year-old Davidson College freshmen.

 

I brought decades of experience into the room… not to position myself as the leader, but to elevate the thinking and prepare them for the moment.

 

And here’s what I know as a pastry chef:

 

You can have the best ingredients in the world. But if the timing is off, if the balance is off, it doesn’t matter.

 

You don’t get excellence. You get something that kind of worked.

 

Same thing here.

 

The slides were locked. No tweaks. No rewrites.

 

Just the discipline to master the message.

 

That’s the difference.
